Penn State professor Dr. Valeria Harvell will discuss the activism of African American women from slavery to the Civil Rights Movement. This aspect of American history has often been overlooked. Dr. Harvell will highlight major and lesser known women, and focus on the ways that racism and sexism affected their lives.
